Club Meet ‘n’ Greet in Monterey

We are not a Club to ever, knowingly, miss out on a good party.  So when the dates for the historic races at Laguna Seca Raceway and the famed Pebble Beach Concours were announced our North America and Canada Co-ordinators, Randy and Debbie Aagaard, got straight on the case and organized the Club’s second Monterey Meet ‘n’ Greet

The event which took place on Saturday, August 19 at the Marriott Hotel Monterey, was sponsored by , Classic Showcase, SNG Barratt and Jaques America.  Club Members and XK/E enthusiasts from across the USA were in attendance, as well as a few migrating visitors from Europe and Asia.  The evening offered people the ideal opportunity to wax lyrical on all matters Classic Jag and to pick up tips from other enthusiasts.  In fact, it was so good that this get-together looks like becoming an annual celebration of all things XKE.

Digitally Mastered: Recent Acquisitions from the Museum’s Collection

Technological innovation is a driving force in design. As software, hardware and computer-aided manufacturing evolve, designers adopt each new powerful tool to realize designs that respond more closely and efficiently to people’s needs and desires, creating objects that at one time would have remained mere fantasy.

The installation in the east wing of the Architecture & Design Galleries presents approximately 24 works that exemplify the diversity of digital technologies employed by today’s most inventive designers. In addition to objects directly produced by the computer through robot-controlled processes like CNC milling and Rapid Manufacturing, the display also includes objects that were designed digitally: from laser-cut models to interactive graphic displays, CAD renderings, and digital typography and magazine layout. Jaguar’s curvaceous E-type Roadster, the body of which was mathematically determined through formulas that anticipated the use of computers, is presented as a predecessor to the digitally made objects on display.

Organised by Paola Antonelli, Acting Chief Curator, and Christian Larsen, Curatorial Assistant, Department of Architecture & Design.

One of the benefits of an international Club is its ability to share information.  As part of a service to members, we like to be able to be able to suggest reliable Insurers and Classic Car Specialists worldwide.  As our eyes & ears on the ground, so to speak, we need your help!

Please let us know, – who restores your car(s)? Where do you go to buy parts? Who you go to for insurance?  We would be delighted to add the details of your trusted Specialists to our website and help other members near you.

Please send your details to: info@e-typeclub.com

To help build this page, please send us your profiles, pictures of your cars and information about any events taking place on the other side of the pond.

A Great Run from Great Falls

In October, eight Jaguar E-types representing all stages of the Model’s evolution (the party included a Series I, I½, II & III) set out for an autumnal adventure. The route took the cars through Virginia, Maryland and West Virginia, traversing farmland, small towns and wooded curves - all amidst the changing Fall foliage.

Organisers Tim Hoechst and Jeff Olson remarked, “We had a tremendous journey. We enjoyed getting to know each other and can now look forward to our Spring trip”.
