UK Area Representatives

About our Representatives

They are, naturally, great Jaguar E-type enthusiasts. To get an idea of where that passion may have begun, or what made the E-type stand out, we asked each of them to tell us about their first, most important, or most entertaining E-type memory.

Read what they have to say below...

To contact any of our Representatives, please see the representatives list in the latest issue of the E-type magazine.

"My passion for the Jaguar E-type  started at the age of 10 when a neighbour parked a sad-looking Series 1 FHC outside his house one evening. He was in the motor trade and often appeared with different cars. The E Type looked to me like it was going 100MPH just standing still."

I am your Club Representative for Cheshire and Derbyshire. I first became interested in Jaguar cars at quite a young age, starting when I bought a 420G engine from a local scrap yard; back in the days when one could wander round such places and discover hidden gems tucked away in the corners!! I stripped it down and figured out how it all went together; quite fascinating, and it was nearly like an E-type engine!! My first true encounter with an E type was at the age of 18 when a good friend of mine, who had just finished restoring a 3.8 FHC, very kindly encouraged me have a drive one day; I didn’t need much convincing, I was hooked, what a fantastic car… Being of modest means and with numerous other distractions, it would be another 23 years before I found myself in a position to acquire my own E-type. This came in the form of a 1965 FHC which “just needed finishing off to make a nice car”… Yeah, right… after the rose coloured spectacles came off it was evident that all was not as it seemed and so began a 3 year restoration in my workshop. This was completed in 2012 and I finally had my own E type! The car has now covered around 10,000 miles and is such a fabulous dream come true. It doesn’t stop there though; the 3.8 FHC which I originally fell in love with is currently in my workshop undergoing the same treatment as my 4.2… currently about 90% complete (with 90% still to go!!) and hopefully should be finished later this year. I love driving my E-type and where better than in the Peak district, about 20 minutes drive from my home. I often go for a run round in the evening after work; a wonderful way to unwind… I have met some wonderful people through my involvement with the club and want to continue to enjoy my E- type(s) and encourage others to do the same… Let’s have some fun… If I can be of any help to you with club, or car matters please do not hesitate to contact me.

"As a small boy, I was always interested in cars, and that general enthusiasm tended to focus down to Jaguars when my father bought his first, a MkX in 1963. By 1975, I had bought my first classic, a Daimler Dart, which I still have, and will probably never part with."

In November 2018, I sold my business and bought an E-Type (a 1970 series II coupe in red) adding to a modest collection of British sports cars that comprises a 1965 TR4 and a 1974 Triumph Spitfire (to which I have a sentimental attachment). When I bought the Jag, it was sound, just about driveable, and a bit tatty. For the last year or so, it has been undergoing a restoration that has included a new clutch and flywheel, some welding, a bare-metal paint job and a smartening up of the interior. With a bit of luck and a fair wind, it should be back on the road in the spring. In my view, owning classic sports cars can be a great social activity and as the Club’s new representative for Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk, my principle objective is to turbo-charge this aspect of club membership. Together with my wife, Morna, we live close to Cambridge.

"Car interests have been many with the first Jaguar coming along in the form of a 1983 XJ Sovereign, followed by an XJ40 Sovereign."

"Like many of us I suspect, I caught the e type bug at a very young age - about 6 years old if I recall well - on seeing my first E-type: a Regency Red Series 1 FHC. Since then I dreamt of owning one and finally realised this ambition in 1997 when I bought my first E-type, an Opalescent Silver Blue S1 2+2 as family plans were in place…"

"I have been involved with Jaguar all my life. We had an XK140 FHC when I was young, a restoration project with no brakes that I used to drive around fields in before I had a driving licence."

"I bought my first Jaguar – a 1980 pre-HE XJS in 1990 – I still remember the test drive. I was so impressed with that car right from the very first moment that I have been a big Jaguar fan ever since."

"I have been a petrol-head for most of my 74 years and excluding company cars I bought my first car with a tin roof when I retired. My first car, at the tender age of 17, was a 1932 MG PA bought as a box of bits. This was followed by a succession of sports cars with my second favourite car (an Austin Healey 100/6) being sold to raise the deposit on the house when I married Judith who has put up with me and my cars ever since."
